Current Policies
Code of Conduct
The Society for Women in Marine Science and the activities that it supports provide a safe, productive, and welcoming environment for all participants. SWMS welcomes a diversity of views and opinions. Participants are encouraged to respectfully express their viewpoints, with consideration of time and space for other participants to do the same. The SWMS Code of Conduct applies to all participants of SWMS-sponsored activities. The SWMS Code of Conduct includes a form to report disturbing and/or inappropriate behavior that is experienced directly or witness happening to someone else at an OCB event. A report can also be filed via email to the SWMS Steering Committee (swms.general.contact@gmail.com – this email goes to the SWMS Steering Committee only), or the Board of Directors if it concerns a member of the Steering Committee. A report can be filed at ANY TIME if any form of misconduct, including harassment, bullying, and/or other behaviors or comments that violate SWMS’s Code of Conduct are experienced or witnessed.

Privacy Policy
SWMS is a US registered 501(c)3 non-profit membership organization supporting women in marine science. As a result, SWMS collects data on its registered members for a number of reasons, across a range of platforms used to support the organization’s activities. We primarily collect data for membership registration and to keep you up to date on SWMS activities. These, along with the platform used to store your personal data, are described in our privacy policy below.
