“Over the past four years, Sophie has been one of my go-to sounding boards when making difficult decisions about grad school, job offers, and more, and I'm so thankful SWMS brought us together!”

“I co-founded SWMS back in 2012 and led the steering committee for a number of years until I graduated. Then, I moved to Seattle for a postdoc and became a chapter liaison and started the Seattle SWMS chapter. I think Ana and I were amongst some of the first SWMS mentorship pairings. It's been great being Ana's cheerleader through some big life transitions and I hope I've been able to provide useful advice by sharing my experiences.”

“Being part of SWMS’s mentor-mentee program has truly been rewarding. Over the past year, Nadya has been an invaluable support. After graduating from an undergrad, stepping into the early stages of my career felt daunting, but having her guidance has made all the difference. I'm incredibly grateful to have someone I can rely on, whether for advice or just to chat about everyday things. As I look to the future, navigating the transition to graduate school has been smoother thanks to her insights. I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunity this program has provided!"

"Kayla and I matched in the SWMS mentorship program in October 2023 and have been learning from each other since! As a mentor, I’m happy to have found a way to share the guidance I’ve benefited from in my professional journey so far, while supporting other women through their own journeys. Experiencing Kayla’s excitement about her next steps has been motivating for me and has also expanded my awareness of available resources and provides yet another wonderful example of the many possible pathways towards a career in the marine sciences. I’m grateful to be on this venture with her and to SWMS for hosting this program!"
